We are delighted to introduce our third registered athlete for the Bhutan Ultra 2027: Kristina Huffman from Seattle, Washington, USA!

Kristina brings a wealth of experience in ultra running and multi-stage racing, having spent the past decade exploring some of the world’s most spectacular and remote destinations on foot.

A former elite gymnast and passionate cyclist, Kristina discovered ultra running later in life. Starting with road races, she soon found herself drawn to trails, longer distances, and eventually multi-stage adventures.

Her first stage race was the 250 km RacingThePlanet Atacama Crossing in Chile. That experience sparked a lasting enthusiasm for this unique form of racing. Since then, Kristina has completed nine multi-stage races, taking her to Mongolia, Namibia, Antarctica, Jordan, Greece, New Zealand, and Nepal, among other destinations. In 2024, she joined the prestigious RacingThePlanet 4 Deserts Club, a remarkable achievement in the world of multi-stage racing.

But for Kristina, these events are about much more than covering long distances. What keeps drawing her back is the opportunity to explore extraordinary landscapes, immerse herself in different cultures, and build lasting friendships with fellow adventurers from around the world.

Away from the trails, Kristina works as an airline pilot for a major US airline and runs a small coaching practice specializing in preparing athletes for multi-stage races. She also enjoys mountaineering, with an ascent of Chimborazo in Ecuador among her adventures. Her husband shares her enthusiasm for stage racing, making these events a wonderful way for them to explore the world together.

With her love of discovering new places, experiencing different cultures, and connecting with people along the way, the Bhutan Ultra and its journey along the historic Trans Bhutan Trail seem a natural fit for Kristina’s adventurous spirit.

We are excited to have Kristina joining us for the inaugural Bhutan Ultra in November 2027 and look forward to welcoming her to the Land of the Thunder Dragon!
