We are pleased to announce that Bhutan Ultra is now a member of the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), joining an international community of trail running events and organizers.
ITRA is an international organization dedicated to supporting and developing trail running worldwide. It promotes the sport, provides standardized race evaluations, and helps athletes compare their performances and discover new challenges around the world.
What does this mean for Bhutan Ultra athletes?
One of the most important benefits of ITRA membership is the opportunity to have our races officially evaluated and awarded ITRA Endurance Points.
These points, ranging from 0 to 6, reflect the endurance demands of a race based on its distance and elevation gain. For athletes, they provide a recognized way of demonstrating experience in long-distance trail running. Some events also use ITRA Endurance Points as part of their qualification requirements.
In addition, the submission of official race results to ITRA allows athletes’ performances to be recorded in their international runner profiles and potentially contribute to their ITRA Performance Index.
ITRA points for Bhutan Ultra 2027
Our 150 km and 200 km multi-stage races, taking place along the historic Trans Bhutan Trail in November 2027, are awaiting their official ITRA evaluations.
While the number of Endurance Points has not yet been confirmed, we hope to share this information with you soon.
For us, joining ITRA is another step towards establishing the Bhutan Ultra as an internationally recognized stage race, combining a demanding sporting challenge with the opportunity to explore Bhutan’s extraordinary landscapes, culture, and traditions.
Stay tuned for further updates on our ITRA race evaluations!
